First of all, CONGRATULATIONS, they are a wonderful breed!
Please take two minutes to read this leaflet before you commit to
buying your puppy, it could save you a LOT of money and heartache
Your chosen breeder MUST be able to show you the following:
The Puppy's Mother:
If you are unable to see the puppy with its mother PLEASE leave immediately. Chances are the puppy has come from a puppy farm, where little or no consideration is given to the welfare of the puppies or their mothers, who are often barely adolescent, themselves.
Parent's Hip Scores & Eye Certificates:
Essential to minimize the chances of your puppy developing hereditary conditions such as
Hip Dysplasia or problems with its cataracts, which are more common than you may think.
If there are problems with the puppy's hips the vets bills usually run into thousands.
K.C Registration
This costs around £12, but you'd be surprised how many breeders say it is too expensive
and use it as an excuse for selling the puppies ‘cheaper’
If your pup is NOT KC Registered, then the parents won’t have been health tested
Please make these checks before you visit the puppy.
Once you are there it is easy to fall in love, or to think you are rescuing a puppy that would otherwise not get sold, when actually you could be contributing to the increasing number of dogs with severe health problems, or worse still, funding puppy farming.
